We CAN Do It!
Quote of the Week:
“I’m glad that we are taking it down and recognizing the Confederate flag for what it is,” Sen. Oscar Braynon, from Miami Gardens. Referencing the Florida Senate decision yesterday to remove the Confederate Flag from its official Seal.
On behalf of the Community Advocacy Network (CAN) and Katzman Garfinkel, I want to personally thank the many Legislators who attended the CAN Legislative Reception on October 14 in Fort Lauderdale. The event provided community association management companies and community volunteer leaders an excellent opportunity to get their points across to South Florida Legislators.
Mark Anderson, CEOMC/CAN Lobbyist
Legislation is already proposed that will renew the fight over who bears the financial burden of certain collection costs assessed against delinquent owners.
Events like CAN’s recent Legislative Reception ensure community association’s voices are heard.
Who we are:
The community association industry is a multi-Billion dollar one and it is our Community Advocacy Network (CAN) and Law Firm’s honor to serve alongside you. Teamwork ensures successful advocacy, reporting and providing information for the nearly 60,000 communities in our state.
What we do:
Advocacy is a process by which an individual or group aims to influence decisions within a political, economic and social institution. CAN does exactly that. We are a non-partisan advocacy group dedicated to the more than 7 million Floridian’s living and serving community associations.
CAN seeks to preserve our unique lifestyle by educating decision makers who make the laws that affect you and me.
It’s got to be a Team Effort:
CAN builds bridges and maintains valuable partnerships and relationships with other statewide organizations who share similar goals. Together, our shared interests create a common purpose and one powerful voice.
CAN and the Chief Executive Officers of Management Companies (CEOMC) formed a partnership to work together for the betterment of common interest ownership communities throughout Florida. By working together and hosting events like the Legislative Reception last week, CAN and CEOMC offer exciting opportunities for community association leaders to get to know their legislative representatives who draft and vote on the laws that affect all of us.
CAN also has a great relationship and is very involved with the Broward Coalition, the Coalition of Boynton West Residential Associations, and the Space Coast Community Association. These leading organizations share a common interest of protecting and fighting for laws and interests for people living in community associations.
Tell someone you love them today.
Yours in Community,
Alan Garfinkel, Esq.
Katzman Garfinkel, Founding Partner
Community Advocacy Network (CAN), Chairman
