Florida Legislature passes $78.7 Billion Dollar Budget….now on to the Governor.

The House and Senate finally passed the 2016 budget. With few happy about the overall results, here are some highlights from the $79.7 Billion Dollar Budget:
- $300 Million in special projects requested by individual legislators;
- $400 Million in tax breaks;
- $55 Million in land acquisitions;
- $81.8 Million for Everglades restoration;
- $450 Million to offset loss of federal Low Income Pool (LIP) funding; and
- 3% per-pupil increase for 2.7 Million students.
The budget passed Friday evening and is now on its way to Governor Rick Scott who will determine what should stay in the budget.
Ideas for Next Year’s 2016 Session
Sooner than usual, the 2016 Legislative Session will start on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, due to the Presidential Preference Primary in March 2016.
